The Assistant Nurse Manager is accountable for the administrative management, supervision, and evaluation of both nursing care for a specified nursing unit. The Assistant Nurse Manager position is generally 0.5 administrative and 0.5 unit/clinical work. Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) is health care services provided to Veterans in their home. Locations of HBPC services are in Syracuse Rome, Binghamton, Watertown and Massena. You will be expected to travel 50% of the time. The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for the provision of leadership in evaluating and improving patient care through collaborative strategies with others. S/he is responsible for advising the Nurse Manager of issues on the unit and potential resolution of issues. The Assistant Nurse Manager functions as an effective change agent, utilizing effective communication skills to implement improvements in patient care. At the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager initiates interdisciplinary projects to improve organization performance and evaluates the effect on patient care and workload utilizing professional standards of care and practice. In the absence of the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager maintains 24/7 accountability for professional nursing practice in assigned areas. The Assistant Nurse Manager possesses the knowledge and skills to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative and interdisciplinary practice setting.
